Default Greetings All. From North Hollywood

Hello Everyone,

I'm from writing from LA and I have been a fan of British films since childhood. Recently I have noticed a trend. In the final scene of romantic comedies. there are children running through the scene. Odd thing to notice but I am wondering if this is a custom or something.

Thanks for the help in advice,

Mac

Welcome Jon,
I can't say I've noticed but it could be that the production company put them in as if to say "And they all lived happily everafter".

Any films in particular?

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Just racking my brain, the only example I can think of is Notting Hill.

Maybe I don't watch enough romantic comedies. Hmm...

Default I noticed three films with the trend

First I noticed the usual "Notting Hill". Then I noticed in the " Wedding Date". I started to question a trend with Bridget Jones 2. The edge of reason. Twice a coincidence. Three times a habit.

What do you guys think?

I think it finds work for the little ......Darlings. Bless. Sort of like the final lick in all those LASSIE films, or that winsome look in that final frame of the film, by the heroine, as she is freeze framed. Or The Explanitory EPILOGUE we used to get at the end of all those TV movies, like COLUMBO and PERRY MASON. Where the bleeding obvious is explained.
It wouldn't be the same without the little kiddywinks.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...YOU MAY GET IT!

And they're possibly the children of the director, producer and other senior staff so that they can get an additional fee out of the film.

Cynical? Moi?
