Default His Excellency 1952

Has anyone seen this film (His Excellency), has it ever been on TV? It seems so strange, there are enough stills available to almost make a film but............

It was shown at the National Film Theatre as part of a Robert Hamer season a few years ago. It's quite fun, with Eric Portman in best Bluff Northern Mode.

Was it based on a real story?

I don't think it's based on a true story*, beyond the fact that it could well have been based on the generality of things happening post Labour's victory in 1945.......

(*The stage version programme, Play and Players, other mags. and various books don't mention it being 'real)

Yes this has been shown on tv but i think that the last time was probably 35 to 40 years ago which was when i saw it.It rather highlighted the class devide then prevalent in the UK.
