Dracula has inspired most films but Lady Chatterly's Lover is the most filmed novel with the most faithful (or should that be "unfaithful") adaptations; 15 films and 22 TV productions.

I would have thought A Christmas Carol as well but there were so many daft versions loosely based on the original story so I suppose it doesn't count.

I just had a quick look and found that there are 24 film/TV versions of HOTB ..... perhaps Holmes and her Ladyship should get it together, they could make a fortune!

Holmes is also the most filmed literary character.

I recall an Item in a magazine on the subject of remakes. The most remade film they came up with was "CINDERELLA". This maybe because of as Sam Kydd says "Daft versions loosely based". 155 according to IMdB.

I would say the most remake of a film would be a Porn film, simply because it contains the same action over and over and over again.
