Default British Cliffhanger Serials?

I have recently watched a couple of old cliffhanger serials. The splendid Mysterious Dr Satan and a restored version of The Lone Ranger Rides Again. I was just wondering if the Brits made any cliffhanger serials or are they mainly a US phenomenon. I know the Europeans made a few .... the French serial Les Vampyres being a particularly fine example of the genre .... but I can't seem to trace any Brit serials. Are there any?

Thanks.

I can think of one, Dusty Bates (1947) starring Anthony Newley. A five parter produced by Gaumont International.

I'd love to watch any of these if they are around. I do have a copy of Enid Blyton's "Five on Treasure Island" from the 1950's, made for Saturday morning pictures, I suppose.

Does anyone have any?

That's just a spoonerism away from being a very interesting sounding film, especially for 1947!

They knew about Spoonerisms in 1947
That's quite possibly why they chose that title

I remember one called THE THUNDER RIDERS . It was on evry saturday morning at my local
cinema, but what I couldn't understand was that their dress was like an arab type dress and it was set in the wild west, very strange but good at the time .

It's not listed on IMDB. Any ideas who was in it, hankoler?

I was only 9 or 10 when I used to see this, I think it was an American seriel as to who was in it I can't remember .They only rode at night and they wore an arab headress, I don't think it was Gene Autrey either. I wish I could remember a lot more about.

Seem to remember seeing a film serial set in Britain on TV many years ago - I think it may have been made by an American studio but with British locations. Can't remember the title, but scenes of vintage Bentleys and country houses a la The Avengers spring to mind. Anyone else remember seeing it or know what it was called ?
