My father has always worn one and he's not gay and he's married so a bit stupid saying that. Although a lot of men seem to wear them now. Must ask my dad who is 74 is he gay and did he really marry my mum

What I actually quoted from Wikipedia was:
Quote:
often by men who have no intention of marrying or are homosexual

You still quoted it Dame starry, (Homosexual) meaning gay and Have No intentions of marrying meaning not married or not willing to. Same thing

But the emphasis was on often, meaning some, not all people wearing such rings are gay. It doesn't mean that all men who wear such rings are gay.

All poodles are dogs but not all dogs are poodles

I didn't point out that a number of gay men have married and have fathered children

Steve
In the mid 80s gay men used to put a handkerchief in the back pocket of their jeans to indicate that they were 'available'.

It was on TV the other week! I'd not seen it before, a real period piece. Do you remember the dreadful John Hurt/Ryan O'Neal film Partners?

I can't say I've ever hear of 'Partners' Bats!.........but as you say, if it's 'dreadful' then I'll give it a miss!

As for 'Cruising', there didn't really seem to be an ending, just a Boat on a River, or maybe I'm missing something?

I actually only watched about an hour of it. The awful script and relentless noise of the clubs he frequented finally killed it for me. It just seemed to meander around with nowhere really to go. I am not surprised the ending was 'ambiguous', the writers had probably run out of ideas by then.
