Default Melody SWALK unavailability

Melody (SWALK). I know this fondly remembered film is featured in other threads, so apologies if this has been answered before. But why, since it's screening during my (early 1970s) childhood, has this Alan Parker film not been broadcast again on British TV? Or has it and I've missed it? And why is it so hard to get on video/DVD, only the Far East seems to have stocked it?

I'm guessing here, but I'd imagine it might be a problem with the rights to the OST?

Ecit, you can view it online here:

Definitely been on the beeb during the last seven or eight years, I remember watching it on a sunny afternoon when I should have been decorating.
I always remember the lines, 'I want to go to the pictures' I said, he said 'There's pictures on the wall!' ' I mean moving pictures!' I said. 'I'll make 'em bloody move' he said, and threw his boot at em.
Roy Kinnear I think.
I remember they also showed 'Term of trail' the same week, another great film.

I had to get mine in Hong Kong as i tried years to get it here , it seems very popular over there for some reason. It can be bought on ebay now and again but at stupid price's. You would think being a British film it would be released here first not Hong Kong the mind boggles.

Live each day to the full because one day it will be your last.

Melody was very popular in Japan when I was there a few years ago - for 'cute' reasons I suppose. I bought the DVD but lent and lost it. The Chinese version I have now is fine, but I think the Japanese copy was crisper.
