Except that Britflicks already exists as a "latest releases" web site

Not that it's really up for debate or a vote. Changing it would cause all sorts of chaos and would lose it to a lot of people that have it bookmarked but don't visit regularly.

It's Britmovie. Get used to it

Interesting point: both 'movies' and 'pictures' are abbreviations of the same term. 'moving pictures'.

in scotland we still say , were going to the pictures , but I do use flicks to make the grankids laugh never movie, or film.

Always understood that 'Film' denoted art house and 'Movie' denoted mainstream. It is a crude form of demarcation and like all forms of pigeon-holing doesn't tell the full story.

It is America's fault (of course it is!) In my youth the American - deep voiced - Trailer announcer always called it 'a motion picture' and that wonderful Jack Hawkins - in Home for Seven - said 'the pictures'.
So, perhaps the correct term is motion picture and a film is what we might put into a still camera?
But to me it is still the film industry.
