Since I didn't have a Gigantic Crush on Robert Powell when I was 12, I'm afraid my considered opinion is that you are Completely Wrong about the relative merits of the two series!

Did you have crush on AV, or are you implying that I had a crush on RP?

Either way, IMHO it is you who are Completely Wrong.

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

I had a Gigantic Crush on AV. Didn't everyone?

And yes, Gideon's Way is fab so there's something we can agree on.

AV features as a small boy in Max's The Brain Machine.

I assume they thought they were going to get a second series
the valentine series end with raffles insinuating to bunny that he is to try the ultimate burglary at the bank of england, but it's more the abruptness of the editing that makes me wonder if there is something amiss. the credits/theme seem to appear mid-sentence in the dialogue-but then again,i may have been very, very drunk whilst watching!

I don't actually remember the ending but it sounds quite plausible that it's exactly as you describe. I'm fairly sure they assumed there would be another series but the fad for Victoriania presumably came to a stop.
