At the very end of their runs, I remember a couple of the local theaters over here ran as a double bill A Hard Days Night and Goldfinger, a gentle reminder that England was giving Hollywood a nudge. In the late 60s they were forever doubling the Connery/ Bond movies so it seemed as if they were never out of circulation.
As a kid growing up back in those days, my most memorable double bills were the so-called "kiddie matinees" which were very popular at neighborhood theaters until around 1966. I caught up with all manner of low-budget science fiction and horror movies of the 50s, mostly black-and-whites, of course. I much preferred giant spiders and flying saucers to the Disney stuff which the adults seem forever to be pushing.
