Default 8mm film

I wonder if anyone could help or point me in the right direction. Ive recently found some 8mm movies. I cant tell what there but there is a couple of mickey mouse ones and a couple with the title Good Scotts and Little Tramps. Im trying to find out if they are worth anything and who to speak too.

Thanks for any help

I doubt that these are worth anything. In the fifties through to the 80s the 8mm gauge was for enthusiastic film collectors like myself. Many cartoons and comedies were issued by various companies such as Moviepaks,Peak films and Walton films.Look to see what prices are being fetched for these items on ebay. However i am afraid that you have not uncovered a long lost treasure trove.

I still collect these along with 16mm films.

If there all small 3" reels then they most likely won't be worth much but if you have any complete films which are normally on 7" reels or bigger then depending on what they are they can be worth something but still not much.

If you plan on selling the then the best place to sell them is on eBay. If there small 3" reels then put them on together in 1 or 2 lots but if there 7" reels or up then they might be better being sold individually.

Projectors are worth £40 - £90 though which isn't too bad.

Hope that's some help,

I remember buying a NORRIS projector from a shop in Birmingham in 1954. I also have a PRINZ 8mm camera, complete with carry case and instruction book, which I used up until a couple of years ago. When I was young I was fascinated by 9.5mm films and projectors, and would spend literally hours scouring junk shops for old films. Sadly I have only the camera left, all the other stuff has just gone over the years.

Hi chum. I also collect film and have been doing since 1973. OUCH! If the films are silent and just small 50ft reels they will not be worth a great deal shame to say. Now and again a version of a movie will come along on film which is better than a DVD version so this is one of the many reasons I have kept on archiving films on the film medium. Space is a problem with this activity but getting one of the old projectors out and the 8ft screen is great fun and entertaining for all.

Have a look around ebay and you will see what some films sell for on 8mm, 9-5 and 16mm.

Happy film watching!
