Default Arthur Lowe film appearance

Can anyone recall the name of the film in which Arthur Lowe (Capt. mainwaring, Dads' Army) appears, and has a line in it simply quoting "Kiss me arse."

I can recall seeing the film on TV in the 70's, but looking though his filmography I can't recognise the movie or the role. I get the vague recollection that he was a butler in an old mansion?

I'd love to catch up with this film again, so can anyone help?

One of a number of nearly forgotten O'Toole films from the early 70s. Botherly Love is from the same era.

Default Thanks to all

That's the one - well done.

Many thanks to those who replied, especially Windthrop.

I must go off now and see if I can locate a decent copy on DVD - I read that the British R2 DVD release from Momemtum at 124 minutes in length has "butchered" the original, but it seems that the US R1 release from Criterion has all 154 minutes intact.

If anyone has a copy they would part with or lend out to me, I'd be interested.

Kind regards, and thanks again,

Keith A
