Default "East is East"-Do Pakistan Muslims identify more closely with Indian or Arab cultures

I'm taking a Multicultural class and our group has been assigned Arab Americans. The film "East is East" was listed as a film on which to do a class presentation. Do folks from Pakistan identify more closely with Arab or Indian cultures and values?

For those folks whose families are from Pakistan do you think the film was an accurate portrayal?

Hi .
I am a white guy currently living in East london.
My relevant experiances with my Pakistani neighbours are few but lead me to beleive that this varies with the generations :-the elder guys tend to be quite anti-Indian so may associate more with the values of the Arab world by default. The younger or first generation Brits are more likely to see the shared experiances with people in this country of Indian origin as more relavant, though not neccesarily with India or its people in itself.

I hope this helps but please do remember not to draw to great a generalisation on what is based on a very few conversations/observations.

With East is East the younger family members were primarily influenced by their British enviroment and their faith was not portrayed as their identity .It seemed to me that the evolution of this identity incorperating all the influences of Family, enviroment,& tradition was one of the stories told.in a very watchable film.
