Default Alcoholism
There was a black and white film made in the 50s where the wife turns to the bottle because the husband goes out all the time.

Not much to go on.... but it had a big impact because of the shocking subject (at that time!).

I can't remember either the hubby or the wife, but it's her name I'm trying to find to pursue another enquiry. As I recall she resembled a softer version of Rosemary Crutchley (sorry Rose). Or on the other hand, not quite as pretty as Gwen Watford.
