Default Britain Can Make It.

Whilst browsing in a bookshop last week-end I found a book called INFORMATIONAL FILM 1948. It seems to be a book for the trade with various articles on filming and film equipment but one chapter lists the information film made that year and it seems 1947 and there is a series called Britain Can Make It.
There are seven listed, one without a number and then 13 14 15 16 17 18. As the name implies they are about goods and products made in Britain although one is called The Common Cold. Does anyone know anything about these films and if they're obtainable?
Also, there is a 'This is Britain' series which looks very interesting, thirteen listed made by Merlin Films. Any info about these would be much appreciated

By coincidence my kids bought me for fathers day an excellent BFI box set called Land Of Promise. It includes Britain Can Make It (number 1.) It is a 4 DVD set of documentaries about about Britain made by all the best documentary makers like Grierson, Jennings and Rotha.

I was in a public information film in 1970, it was just before the man who played Darth Vader was the green cross code man, so my film on "look right look left look right again" mantra was suddenly old hat; I've never seen it, and the director, Alan Cohen, I can't find. If anyone can raise a copy I'd be grateful; It may have been called Benjamin's Dream.

Can you let us know how you get on please? I do have the "Land of Promise" DVD set which is really excellent and thoroughly recommended. I am particularly interested in the "This is Britain" series - the films made by Merlin Films.

Has anyone ever seen them?
