what is the best british tv/film version of this story?
i've only ever seen the one set in the wrong era with patrick stewart and it was awful so would appreciate members opinions on this topic

I recall a delightful version with David Niven in the later 1970s, but I think it's now lost.

I was going to mention that. I think it's about the only lost programme that I actually remember seeing.
