Default 1980s(?) Legal TV Series

Need some urgent help please to stop my brain explodiing.

Does anyone remenber an 80s or early 90s tv show based in a Midlands legal firm. The lead actor was possibly Kevin McNally or someone else with a simliar lived-in look (sorry Mr McNally). He played a loveable rogue lawyer, often drunk, with plenty of the usual cliches, but it was well acted and scripted.

The female lead I think was blonde or fair haired.

Can anyone help with a title?

Regards - Bernie

The first thing that popped into my head was Is it Legal ? but this is later and not set in the Midlands as far as I can remember.

I'm wondering whether it's 'Kinsey'. That was a legal series set in the Midlands.

Kinsey??? Don't recognise the title, but my memory plays tricks. My IMDB site is not working - was the lead Kevin McNally or a look alike?

The girl looked at little like the Richardson women, tall, slim and elegant, but with short fair hair.

I'll have to sleep on it.

Kinsey was played by Leigh Lawson IIRC.

Thanks for the photo and link. Leigh Lawson looks familiar, but Serena Gordon does not. Very pretty but is she tall?

Is there a gallery of British actresses anywhere on the web? Failing that, is there a comprehensive alphabetical list. I might remember a photo or simply a name.

Kinsey (although I didn't recall the title itself) was the first thing I thought of when I read the first post.

His character was keen on fighting for the poor rather than the money maker, if I recall correctly and I think the female lead joined the practice and gave it some respectability.

Kevin McNally was a probation officer in an ITV series.

Very Interesting. I wonder If I have got my legal/probation characters mixed up?

Do you recall the name of your programme? And the female lead?
