Default The Whistle Blower (1987) Query

This DVD was given away free as part of the Michael Caine Collection sometime back in the Daily *cough* Mail.

My query is this, the film was granted a PG certificate and yet it contains the use of the words F**k and F*****g and is said in the film by Michael Caine.

How can they allow those words in a PG film ? I know it is allowed in a 12 but not in a PG!!

There's a lot of dignity in that, isn't there? Going out like a raspberry ripple.

The use of swear words has not really been an issue in the UK for some time. The 'F' word had been used on TV a few times before TWB was made and that led to it becoming more acceptable in films IMHO. Also, they take into account the context in which the words are used and the Caine character in this film is extremely frustrated and angry about his son's death so a few expletives would not be considered out of context.

"Boom boom a baby .... Banham Zoo .... Banana pants! Hahahaha"

So those 2 words in the film are considered "Mild bad language only" then ?

I have watched quite a few PG rated films and I have never come across any film with those 2 words spoken.
