Please some one tell what the heck this movie is about??? I taped it so I will go back and watch it again.

It's about 1 hour and 40 minutes, isn't it?

I think Evelyn Waugh, the guy who wrote the book it's based on, wanted to say that life is a bit like a funfair: you lose on the swings what you gain on the roundabout. I think some character actually says something like that at some point in the film.

Not a hugely original idea perhaps but it still beats: "life is lahk a box of chockerlits . . ." and they gave an Oscar to that one.

If I had a swimming pool, it would probably burn down . . .

The movie did not prosper at the box-office. Robin Philips did go on to become a distinguished stage director.

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !
