Yes, it's funny that a film with such a good cast should produce such dreary results.

Hopefully they were paid handsomely and the catering table was good - it might compensate for it a bit.

Brando didn't get paid! He only did it to get out of a lawsuit for refusing to be in The Egyptian to which he was contracted. That contract was cancelled and he had to do Desiree or be sued for a few million dollars.

Well, that certainly explains his lack of enthusiasm, doesn't it?

Rather like Marvin Gaye's Here My Dear album that he made to pay off his first wife. She was supposed to get all the profits from that LP as a settlement. So, Marvin made it as sucky as possible. And sucky it was.

My favourite Napoleon film is Eagle in a Cage

with John Gielgud, Ralph Richardson and Billie Whitelaw. I'd love to see a good life of Nelson. Liked Olivier in That Hamilton Woman.

There's the 1918 film called Nelson directed by Maurice Elvey with Donald Calthrop as Nelson and 1926 film Nelson directed by Walter Summers starring Cedric Hardwicke.
