Default Horatio nelson in film ?

Other than Olivier in "Lady Hamilton" (AKA "That Hamilton Woman") have there been other on screen depictions of Lord Nelson ?

Horatio Nelson (Character)

Peter Finch played Nelson in Bequest to the Nation with Glenda Jackson as Emma Hamilton!

I was reading that Napoleon has never had a proper mainstream movie made, just about him.

You'd think both he and Horatio would be ideal material for a Sex-n-Power Epic movie, with a cast of a thousand and one giga-bytes.

Better than a remake of The Dambusters anyhow............

Peter Finch was fab (as always) but Glenda was a tad....er....unconvincing as Emma Hamilton. Mind you it was about 500 years ago that I saw it.

As for Napoleon having a mainstream movie - surely the French have done one, Moor Larkin?

With regard to Bonaparte, there's a very famous silent isn't there ? Also Kubrick was preparing a flick, but apparently abandoned it when "Waterloo" went into prduction, or was released - I'm not sure which. A Nelson flick could obviously be wonderful, but I would imagine the production costs prohibitive. It can't be cheap to film at sea (enter stage right the didgital effects demons).

Abel Gance's Napoleon is pretty much about Napoleon ....

.... and don't forget Marlon Brando's epic portrayal in Desiree.

There was also that TV 'doc.' I think it was about Napoleon's last days on St Helena and the suggestion that he had been deliberately poisoned.

I really liked The Emperor's New Clothes in which Napoleon escapes from St Helena and organises a battle between rival fruit and veg sellers in Paris.
