I haven't seen GANGSTER NO.1 but GET CARTER is one the best movies ever made, in my opinion. :)

Ever so slightly off topic...but,

Michael Caine once said - [talking about British Gangster Movies..]

"there have only ever been three good ones, I was in one,...... 'Oskins was in the other,..... and we was both in the third...."

Users of this forum will know exactly what he was talking about....(so no prizes)

No contest. Look at Michael Caine's understated performance then look at Malcolm McDowell's cartoon creation. Also, I'm still trying to understand the metamorphis between Bettany and the 5 inch shorter McDowell!

Thats like asking "Who's better, McFly or The Beatles"

Gangster No1 is a pile of crap.

Get Carter is a cinematic masterpiece.

Caine's finest performance IMO.

**EDIT***

Sorry, I assume you mean't the original Get Carter?

The re-make is not even worthy of discussion.

GET CARTER IS BETTER.. BUT NOTHING WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO THE "GODFATHER" PART1 AND DONT FORGET "SOME LIKE IT HOT" FOR A COMEDY/GANGSTER FILM...
