Nobody seems to know.
But he had a fish-tail, like a mermaid, so I wonder how he managed to stand up?

Isn't that Billy Connolly's dad?

And let's not forget what makes this film particularly special to a lot of people, apart from the Harryhausen animations - Bernard Herrmann's incredibly evocative and imaginative score. This is one of my favourites. He also did The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad and others.

I've always enjoyed this film; it ticks so many boxes to do with my other interests. I have to agree that the music is very good.

Even though the mythology is right out the window, I've always liked the skeletons. Great fun.
