Default Jason and the Argonauts 1963

Was Todd (Jason) Armstrong's dialogue overdubbed by someone else? If so, why, and who provided the voice?

He was - by the British actor Tim Turner. I don't know why - maybe they wanted a more Transatlantic voice.

Thanks, Euryale, I think you could be right, an American accent (I presume Armstrong is American) may have grated a bit, surrounded by those British thesps. The dubbed voice used is very distinctive - I remember it from British TV ads and trailers around that time, and I've always wondered who it was - cheers for the info.

One of my favourite films! I love the Ray Harryhausen creations. Also it has Nancy Kovak in it!

Tim Turner also narrated numerous 'Look At Life' shorts for Rank.

Yes, Todd Armstrong was American, born in Missouri. Sadly, he died in 1992, only in his mid-fifties. He appeared in several other films such as King Rat and A Walk on the Wild Side, so I guess you'd have to try and watch those to know how he really sounded (unless he was dubbed in those, too!).

Mr. Turner was born in 1924, and happily appears to be still with us, along with other stars of the film such as Honor Blackman, Gary Raymond and Douglas Wilmer.

Of course, the special effects man was Ray Harryhausen, who has long been domiciled in London, and is still extremely active at the age of 88.

Didn't watch "Jason..." since a long time, but I remember that the "heaven domestic scenes" between Zeus and Era(??), deciding the destiny of Jason, are funny....

Great film anyway

Nigel Green as Hercules.

Niall MacGinnis as Zeus.

The entire Talos sequence...

"Sail when you please Jason. I cannot leave this island 'til I have found Hylas"

It has always and always will be in my favourite 10 films...

The moment when previously immobile Talos turns his head to look at the two interlopers below is one of the great scenes in cinema.
