I recall many, many, many years watching an old British flagwaver set just before and during the Second World War. The film opens with a panoramic shot of a shipyard (I am sure TYNESIDE came up) and it was about the HMS Ark Royal. Sorry to be vague, but any ideas?

Cheers,
I wasn't sure whether my memory was playing tricks on me as regards the TYNESIDE bit, because I was sure the Ark Royal was built in Merseyside. Again thanks for the info. On the whole, the flagwavers of that time did what its says on the tin. I don't think the makers were eyeing up Oscar glory! Ta Ta Marky B thumbs_u |

Cheers everyone,
It was built in Birkenhead, Cammell Lairds check out this photo http://www.bwpics.co.uk/gallery/arkroyal.html It is by a Liverpool photographer Edward Chambre Hardman. His studio is now a museum, untouched since he died, in Rodney Street. His photos b/w are worth having a look at on any of the web sites dedicated to him. regards Freddy |
