i despise CGI,Sci Fi and 3D so would rather eat my own eyes in a mayonnaise sauce using a pair of swiss army knife tweezers than watch 'Avatar'.

Hey Film Man, that's where I saw it too There were moments when the fauna and flora of the jungle really seemed like it was going to brush against your face.

But not everybody's going to like it, for sure. Even though I loved it I still had a chuckle at a couple of the nicknames I've heard; Ferngully in Space, Smurfahontas...

I did get into an argument with a friend who didn't like it but keeps raving about that massively overrated, bloated, badly written pile of junk Inglorious Basterds, so you clearly can't please everone...

Films Wanted:
THE BIG DAY (1960)
DON'T PANIC CHAPS! (1959)

PM for trade list, Thanks!

Don't forget to brush your teeth afterwards.

Interesting that so many have made a judgement without even seeing the film. And the idea that the film is aimed squarely at the "x-box" generation is complete rubbish.

I have just returned from an evening 3-d showing at my local cinema and at a guess I'd say over half the audience were of pensionable age.

And just from listening to them and speaking to them they had a hoot. They were there to see it for themselves,

No - It ain't Bergman but it doesn't pretend to be.

Ah Yes, the Soviet Union. All them wheatfields and ballet in the evenings

Thanks HammerDave...why do so many think it's smart to knock things they haven't even tried?
My wife, who isn't a 'film person' loved every minute and has booked again to take her friend.

Ah - Yes. I am pretty sure I read that in The Times somewhere. Thank goodness for your two lads. This film must be crap.

It is a little depressing to see the fogeyism, young and old, that you find on this forum.

The upside is that I'm 62, and it makes me feel a lot younger.

I loved the film. Good, non-cerebral, spectacular entertainment.

No criticism at all because I have not seen it, but getting tired of the dominant special effect angle.
Did hear one report (probably hype) that many persons, after seeing the wonderful world that is this distant planet, feel so depressed with this planet (earth) that they are seeking councelling

I love old British films! None better.

LOL - Probably a touch of hype, but walking out of the cinema into a dark cold dirty UK January needed more than counselling. I headed straight for me local Weatherspoons - And I wasn't the only one !

Watching animated special effects in 1960's are much more magical for me imho

I have no desire to see this film.
