After his dismissal from "Birdman of Alcatraz" I don't think he made another film until "A Fish Called Wanda". He did continue a prolific career directing for TV though. I wonder if that was his own decision to concentrate on TV. certainly his reputation as a film director was damaged in Hollywood, I just wonder why he didn't simply continue directing films in Britain rather than staying in the world of TV..

6' 5" I believe - oddly enough the same height as his colleague Andrew Gardner. They don't look so tall when they're sitting down.
