Hi to our friends across the pond from here in Long Island NY!

I have read the forum about the sad scraping of the restored BBC/Warner SCROOGE with a date of 10/25/05.

I have the VCI dvd and although decent I was looking forward to the BBC restoration is there any info on if BBC and VCI will share the restored elements with Mr. Cole's commentary?

This film has always been a favorite of mine and in fact a movie theater here in my area will be showing it on the big screen in a rare theatrical showing this December.

Kudos to the top-notch talented Brit crew that brought this classic to life!

Also is there any info on how I can send Mr. Cole a letter of thanks from a fan of his work in the film and to thanks him for making all of our Christmases brighter via this great film!

Best to all!

Hi

The BBC/Warners DVd had to be scrapped because if they had continued they would have been pirates. The company who would have suffered (and perhaps did suffer slightly whilst it was announced) the most was VCI. The incident would have given them bargaining powers. It looks like DD Video has already taken some of the restored material. VCI should follow suit.

I am not certain as to how the George Cole commentary came about (if indded it exists).

DD Video apparently are to use the audio commentary and there is to be an exclusive interview on their re-release tomorrow. I hope to update you on what will be likely to appear on the revised VCI edition this week.

If you wanted to write to George Cole, go to the Spotlight site (http://www.spotlightcd.com/) and type in his name. You will get his agents address and can send fanmail there.
