The British Film Institute have a DVD in their catalogue SILENT SHAKESPEARE (BFIVD 654) which is a compilation of early Shakespeare films from the National Film Archive. I would imagine that most if not all the clips you are interested in would be on it

King John, Tempest, MidsummerND, Lear, 12th night,Merchant oV , RichardIII. Lear and MOV are colourised. There is no Hamlet on my copy. Perhaps there is another issue. As for Theatre of Blood, I always think of Vincent Price as a camp, hammy actor, but in this film in which he plays a camp, hammy actor he is, at times, genuinely moving! |
