I was watching Ratcatcher the other day by Lynne Ramsay - about a boy in Glasgow - and theres a scene where a mouse called Snowball goes floating off, tied to a balloon. There is some african sounding marimba music playing during it that I've been trying to track down cos I think it's beautiful but with no success.Rachel Portman did the soundtrack - but I don't think it's one of her compositions.I have a feelling it's been used for other films or adverts - can anyone help? I've tried other sites and forums but no luck so far...
Regards,rg paddler.

Excellent scene and lovely film, try the BFI site for lists of soundtracks to british films or try BBC Scotland who I think funded the film

Thank you very much - I actually managed to contact the director - Lynne Ramsay who told me that the music used is Carl Orffs Schulwerk - musica poetica and it is also used on the film Badlands with sissy spacek and martin sheen. It is quite hard to get hold of you can listen to a sample here.(Click on No.1 in the listen list)

There is an advert around at the moment using it - and as usual, the music is what you remember, not the product. Could be a car....

Bit of a Bay Window, what??
