Default Eric Portman in The Magic Box?
I remember reading some old press cuttings (possible from The Yorkshire Post) ....a woman friend of Eric Portman rang him to say she'd been to see the film ( The Magic Box) and he had been cut! Does anyone know if he was restored at some point or remained 'on the cutting room floor' as the article was titled.

He was certainly in the version I saw, and as he plays one of the few major characters (William Friese-Greene's business partner Arthur Collings), it would be hard to imagine how he could be cut out without damaging a key part of the film!

There were certainly different edits of the film...some shorter than the original release, for second-run cinemas to add in a second feature...perhaps Eric got lost that way...
Bit of a Bay Window, what??

I've just watched it, his friend must have blinked, a couple of times.
