Default Region 1

This cry for help is made after accidentally discovering "Hell is a City" available in the USA with directors commentary, alternate ending etc.

I checked with the releasing company who advised that they dont have the UK rights !
The question is what would be the cheapest way of being able to play Region 1 DVDs.
I have a DVD player which states definately not Region 1 and also a DVD drive on my computer which to date I have only tried Region 2 on.

Thanks

I think it was released via Anchor Bay. You could try the .co.uk version of their site which has a forum and may give you some details about any future R2 release.

Sadly converting R1 to R2 is above me.

Best of luck.

Most DVD players can be converted to any region by using the remote. There are several sites on the web that give the codes - best way is to type the make of your DVD player into Google followed by *Multi-Region Hack*.

Here's a site that might help:

Many thanks for your swift reponses, I'll have a go and get back to you.

Thanks also DB7, I contacted Anchor Bay but there are no plans at the moment for a UK release.
Anchor Bay though is developing an evergrowing list of DVDs with extras(Even Nuns on the Run features a directors commentary). At present it seems heavily rooted in the horror genre, but well worth a luck from time to time,

Have you thought of hacking your DVD player to multi-region? Let me know how it goes as I'm considering doing mine.
