Or were there collections that have been released which won't be available through Amazon / Sendit.com etc that would mean all the 30's ones especially that i'd like to have, may actually be findable??
Are there collections of British film available only through certain outlets, out now?

There are some that aren't available through regular UK retailers. Some are only available from retailers in the US of A or other countries. Some are only available from specialist retailers like Nostalgia Family Video.

It's all the Pal ones i'm interested in as I don't think my video plays NTSC films. There's nothing to indicate that it does. It's the collections/series brought out through certain companies that arn't recognised in a sense by Amazon. i might be able to find sought after films if I could film out names of all these series'..
It's worth buying a cheap NTSC tape to see if it can play them. Nearly all PAL VCRs built fairly recently can play NTSC tapes. It's expected of them so they don't bother to advertise the fact. Get a colour film on the NTSC tape because when PAL VCRs started being able to play NTSC tapes some could only display an NTSC tape in B&W

Two mail order American companies release their film titles in PAL as well as NTSC. www.tvideo.com have many obscure British classics, so does www.madphat.com but they charge extra. You might find something here if you have problems with NTSC
Thanks very much for these last two answers. I'll try that with the colour NTSC tape as the player was new when I bought it only a few years ago. I'll try those web sites too, and if there are any other places good for those obscure series' that don't get included on Amazon / Sendit.com then i'm all ears!
Yes, check your VCR first.
When you come to look for retailers there are useful lists of where to get these older films in PAL or NTSC formats at http://www.britmovie.co.uk/pages/Retailers and http://www.powell-pressburger.org/FAQ/FAQ26.html

Hi, I'm new to this site. Maybe you already know about **********. There's a fantastic collection there and quite cheap.I've used them quite a bit and had no problems yet. Good luck with the searching. Black Dog.
