Here's one! The actor who played Pippin in TLOTR, Billy Boyle was it? Well he used, presumably, his own Scottish/Irish accent in that film, yet in Master and Commander he'd lost it! I would have thought that as Middle Earth had no Scotland/Ireland, then a 'no accent' would have been preferable in TLOTR. What do YOU think?

Sean Astin who played Samwise Gamgee,is American. He is the son of John (Gomez Adams) and Patty Duke. He put on a good yokel accent, and Elijah Wood's accent was very much Home Counties. Sean Bean as Boromir still kept his Yorkshire accent. I am guessing Middle Earth is a representation of Britain. My Hartlepool/Teeside accent would have gone down a treat somewhere in the film. Welshman John Rhys-Davies played Gimli with a Scottish accent,by the way.

    Miranda Otto was just gorgeous.
