Can anyone enlighten me as to what the missing scenes are from the various versions of the film? The original cut was apparently 147 mins. The version screened on the BBC the last couple of times runs approx. 123 mins. (about 128 mins. without the PAL speedup). Then there's the UK PAL DVD version which clocks in around 115 mins!
My earliest memories of seeing the film are from around 1979/80 on ITV. I'm fairly sure that this was the same version that runs on the BBC today. What happened to the original 147 min. cut, and are we ever likely to see it restored?
Shout At The Devil is no masterpiece, but it is a solidly produced action adventure that surely deserves to be seen as the late Peter Hunt originally intended. After all, before turning to directing he was editor on several of the earliest (and best) Bond films.
