Hi Elaine, it has been suggested earlier in the thread that it was Notting Hill Gate Tube for the scenes in Darling.

I'd go with that, it had the unusual combination of wooden escalator and stainless steel surrounds.

Yes, but with wooden surrounds Steve, not steel, I think Notting Hill gate was a one off when it was rebuilt circa 1960, installing a wooden escalator but flanked with steel, after that it was steel and steel, though of course there was still much wood and wood, I believe there's only one wooden escalator still in use at Greenford, not so much of a fire hazard being outside.
