Bit of a mystery to me also. Was way down south visitng ma & pa before Christmas when I did see part of the film. We spent more time talking about how bad the print was with miles of scratches, colour shift, splices and now would like to see the film. Mr Cagney was knocking on a bit and I would say the film was mid to late 50's in Cinemascope perhaps. Looked like he was on a ranch and it was a western theme.
I think it might be Tribute to a Bad Man
Tribute to a Bad Man (1956)

Watch out for Lee Van Cleef's comic turn as one of the cowboys in the bunkhouse!
Guess what.. Dad found out the film I was after was on Movies4Men last night and we watched it! Yipee.
The film was called Colorado AKA Run for cover 1955. It is the roughest print I have ever seen on broadcast but what a great film which my wife also loved. At long last the mystery is solved, and the good news is that they will I am sure be showing it again and again.
Thanks all for helping.
