A Matter of Life and Death
Nick
Can anyone suggest any colour films of the 1940's or early 1950's with scenes of London or the SE of England?
I think Blithe Spirit is one.............

Genevieve has Hyde Park and various locations (presumably around Shepperton)
Men of Two Worlds - doesn't that have some Trafalgar Square footage? (I'd have thought you'd have remembered that one)
Ladykillers - King's Cross area
Gideon's Day - haven't seen it for a while - there must be a few landmarks
This Happy Breed - Clapham
Somewhere there's a thread listing all colour features up to (I think) 1945 which might be helpful.
Oh dear yes

Although 1956 "Lost" is ram packed with shots of London.
The Thirty Nine Steps with Kenneth More.

Doesn't Van Johnson's off-Baker Street flat have a riverside view?![]()
I can't remember much about it and I'm cross with my self for rubbing the Tape but doesn't the Musical (Colour, late 40's) 'London Town' have scenes of London in it?
All I recall is the Singers floating along a River and a Camp Comedian on Stage
Late 50's but in glorious in your face Colour is 'Peeping Tom', some scenes in back street Fitzrovia and Kensington
The IMDb lists "River Thames, Windsor, Berkshire" as a location. All the interiors and probably many of the "exteriors" were really shot in the studio.name='Mark O']I can't remember much about it and I'm cross with my self for rubbing the Tape but doesn't the Musical (Colour, late 40's) 'London Town' have scenes of London in it?

When I did the search for London locations I limited it to 1940-1955

I have found IMDB to be very poor and inaccurate on locations. I've emailed them a few times to point out errors and omissions, but amendments haven't been made.![]()
Maytime in Mayfair, made in Technicolor around 1949, opens with sunny location shots of London and London buses.

Who have you emailed there?
Have you tried using the submissions form to update information?
That's how the IMDb works. It's now some all-knowing group that presents us with information, it's a collaborative project where we all contribute what information we know to add to the sum of knowledge.
The vast, vast majority of information on there, especially for older titles, has been supplied by volunteers - the fans of the films and TV programmes

I'm unsure if it's ever been on TV or available anywhere but I've seen a small clip of 'Touch and Go' dated 1955 which is in colour where Liz Fraser is seen on possible Westminster Bridge wearing a Yellow Cardigan
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956).
'Titfield Thunderbolt' is neither London or the South-East of England, but it gives an insight as to how the Countryside in Southern England once looked
