    I wonder if, in the *old days*...pre-war.. ? ..... Actors etc. would be more likely to deal personally with their own bookings and the practice of publishing their personal address and phone number in almanacs was a way of their obtaining work more readily.

    Just one example I noticed, browsing a 1961 actor's Who's Who that the older actors seemed to have what appeared to be home addresses listed but the younger ones had agents, or perhaps their 'Club' as their contact address. For example Alistair Sim had what seemed a home address in Hampshire but George Cole listed his Club as his contact address. Quite a few American actors in the almanac had a USA address listed, but many of those were clearly the address of an Agency.

    name='batman']Baz = Basil Radford.

    I would love to see a pic of Max's pad, thanks Mark for the offer Mark.

    As promised Bats, but I'm sorry to say the entire building is being redevoped.........there was me expecting a Georgian/Regency style place as the majority of the architecture is in that vicinity only to find a 'wall of glass' monstrosity'!........

    Definitely not in keeping with the rest of the area.........tut tut!
