I love those scenes in films where our intrepid heroes are about to embark on the heist/commando raid/prison break-out, and the leader gets the gang/unit to synchronise watches. I doubt whether we'll see these scenes in future with the advent of radio-controlled digital timepeices.

Trouble is, I can't actually remember any specific films which feature a 'synchronise watches' scene. Any suggestions?

And which was the show where the person in charge gave the order to synchronise watches. "But I haven't got a watch" came the cry from the ranks.

Their valiant leader replied "OK then, I'll synchronise mine"

First film that immediately came to mind: A Shot in the Dark (1964).

There's a good scene where Peter Sellers and Graham Stark synochronise watches.

Added bonus for fans of the film:

Posters, photos and lobby cards for A Shot in the Dark

On TV, one of my favourite episodes of The Prisoner also had a key scene where this happens:

I have yet to see a 'synchronize watches' scene where anyone ever actually alters anything.

Surely everyone is just taking a mental note of what their watch is indicating and the difference in seconds from when the leader gives the countdown?

Isn't there a Morecambe and Wise scene where they say "Synchronize watches" and they all say totally different times? Made me laugh. Maybe I dreamt it.
