Thanks Graeme. That's a good site. I didn't think there were so many.

I am just listening to the Elaine Paige show on Radio 2 and she has just played a version ofthe dirge My Heart Will Go On which contained snippets of dialogue from the film, it just reminded me how trite the film was IMHO.

I thought there was no chemistry between the leads, a pantomime villian and cliche ridden script. The special effects were good but these days with CGI any big budget film should have excellent SFX.

I know I must be in the minority (as witness the films takings) but I honestly prefer A Night to Remember or even Titanic with Barbara Stanwyck and Cliftomn Webb

I did like the film, it was a good storyline with the old woman, but IMHO it was about showing big budget and stars rather than the story. And of course they knew the soundtrack would make money! Everyone won! The reasons some films are made are purely for financial gain, I`m not saying the people involved in titanic didn`t have thier hearts in it, it was a good movie, but remakes always leave me suspicious for some reason.

IIRC they went to a lot of trouble to recreate the sets to plans of the original Titanic and paid a lot of attention to detail.

Well, I for one agree with you, even the costumes were far more authentic in those earlier versions . I can't imagine how the Cameron version won an Oscar for the costumes.

I love Cameron's Titanic, and the soundtrack, but then I would say that being biased towards our Kate!.........I recall seeing it on a huge Cinema screen at the time of release, could have done with two pairs of eyes just to absorb it all and I'd happily go and see a cinema screening again, I'll admit it's a bit far-fetched in parts, like Molly Brown just happening to have her son's evening dress with her to kit out Jack for his dinner invite, where was Molly's son?

My wife and daughter went to the Cinema to see it and raved about it for weeks, I resisted and was forced to sit through it when the DVD came out. I would rather have a leg amputated than sit for 189 minutes watching that again!

I thought Titanic was terrible, too. Night to Remember is much better (and more accurate).

Opinion certainly seems to be divided on it - I hated the odd bits I've seen on TV.

From views expressed here, it seems very much a film for the ladies!

Lol, I'm afraid so. I had to sit through it with SWMBO and loathed every bumb-numbing minute of it.

Even Kate in the buff (as per usual), failed to redeem it.

I've read that Kate's happy to display her assets in the name of art, if it was up to me she'd be in every lead role going!

'Titanic' had buckets of money lavished on it, CGI to die for, top actors (well, sort of) - and it was still not a patch on 'A Night to Remember'. Maybe ANTR would have been a huge box office success in the US, if Kenny More had got his kit off!
