Have these 3 films ever been shown on tv in the UK

3 films I remember seeing in the 1960's and have never seen on tv.



1)-The Legions Last Patrol-

I understand this is an Italian made film with guest role for Stewart Granger.cracking theme tune



2) The Castilian-

from memory this was a supporting feature made in colour.



3) Charge of The Black Lancers.

I think this may also have been a European film but my memory has Mel Ferrer as the star.



Does anyone know if any of these ,particularly Last Patrol,are,or have been available on DVD.

Finally,are any episodes of Mystery and Imagination tv series still in existence.I would love to see the MR James Lost Hearts episode again-scared the proverbial out of me as a ten year old

Yes, all three had a cinema release in the UK in the 1960's, but have never been shown on television here or released on video or DVD. The theme from The Legion's Last Patrol was a big hit for Ken Thorne and his Orchestra on the HMV label in the summer of 1963.

If I remember correctly, without looking at my film books for reference, The Legion's Last Patrol was originally released on the Rank circuit as the lower half of a double bill with The Day Of The Triffids (Howard Keel version) in May, 1963.

Thanks to everyone who replied so quickly.I saw all three in the early to mid 60's at my local fleapit.I have been waiting for any of them to come to a tv or dvd player near me since then.I'll just have to keep living in hope.Nobody I know could remember the Charge of the Black Lancers and I was starting to think I'd imagined it.

I have the Ken Thorne record on the original almost worn out 7" single and also on a 60's compilation cd.

I would love to see Legion's Last Patrol in English. I live in France and picked up a version dubbed into French which is watchable - my French is good enough to understand the story, but I'd love to hear Stewart Granger's real voice!!



Interesting that the movie follows a mercenary patrol betrayed by their Government, and that years later Granger played the baddie and did the same thing to Burton and co in the Wild Geese.

Thanks for the info .It is definitely the same film.From Something Weird's description it looks as though the version I saw was heavily cut as it was a Saturday morning flick supported by PG Tips chimp shorts and cartoons.SW's website description looks like the original version would have received an X certificate here in the UK.

I have - think the dvd took a couple of weeks (seamail?) but the quality was absolutely fine. Certainly their compilations are good value.
