name='taffy1967']Pamela Franklin also appeared in 'The Legend Of Hell House' in 1973?
Just checked and it was a USA made film, but it was definitely set in Great Britain.
It was filmed in GB too. Namely at Wykehurst Park House in Bolney, Sussex.
name='wadsy']And soon The Darkness 1970.
Pamela Franklin & Michele Dotrice as two English girls cycling in the French
countryside & one of them goes missing. Also with Sandor Eles & John Nettleton.
The lovely Miss Franklin's last British film I think before her move to America. She
appeared in "Green Acres" the following year.!
I've got to get that classic on DVD. But Pamela Franklin also appeared in 'The Legend Of Hell House' in 1973?

Layer Cake
The Good Shepherd - Brit connection, Michael Gambon
Life as a House - Brit connection, Kristin Scott Thomas
3 completely different genres - enjoyed them all
Watched John Ford's "Fort Apache" with the family. Superb ! Having seen "My Darling Clementine" recently, I've come to realise that Henry Fonda was a pretty decent hoofer !
I certainly agree with the negative comments about the DEER HUNTER.
It was a mixed bag last night: REPUTATION (hated it!) and half the doco CINEMA EUROPA: the OTHER HOLLYWOOD.
Rob
The Poseidon Adventure
The 2-disc version is excellent with plentiful extras & interviews. Pamela Sue Martin hardly looks any different today.
Wallander - Faceless Killers. Another superb episode of this excellent series. Kenneth Branagh gives a fine performance in a story of murder, robbery, racism and mental illness. I cannot praise this series enough .... highly recommended.
Last episode of Paradox and Without A Clue.
Thanks to a kind forum member I watched William Dieterle's Hollywood version of Salome, complete historical tosh ( the Emperor Augustus didn't exist in the film) but great fun to see Charles Laughton ham it up as King Herod, and Rita Hayworth did look stunniung.
Wah-Wah 2005
Richard E Grant's film about his troubled adolescence in Swaziland. Nicholas
Hoult is very good as the young Grant & Gabriel Byrne & Miranda Richardson are
on top form as his dysfunctional parents. Byrne particularly good as the father
struggling with alcoholism. A great cast also includes Emily Watson , Julie
Walters & Celia Imrie. A delightful film that shows the young Grant's sometimes
very sad experiences coupled with some very funny moments & the culture
& attitudes of the times. Excellent!![]()
Harry Brown
Jack Carter drawing his pension. It kicks off rather sombrely before descending into a morally ambiguous OAP Deathwish. Caine makes the film better than it should be but poor Emily Mortimer stinks the place out in a poorly drawn role.
Doctor Who: The Romans
Not Hartnell's finest story though it did have some intentionally funny scenes, plus a blustering Derek Francis as Nero.
The Lovely Bones
Watched a screener of this movie which is due for release in UK cinemas on the 29th January 2010.
Really enjoyed the film, I found it an original take on a much visited subject. Tastefully done but intensely creepy and chilling in parts whilst being almost fairytale-like in others.
Excellent performances, as you'd expect, from Susan Sarandon Rachel Weiss and Mark Wahlberg but the performance of Saoirse Ronan (Atonement,Death Defying Acts) as Susie Salmon is the finest yet from this upcoming young actress.
Highly recommended heart-wrencher, a great start to 2010's long list of movie releases.

Just finished watching the new version of THE PRISONER. My initial thoughts were very, very negative - but taken in the round (and as a piece of drama in its own right) and, most importantly perhaps, in the modern context I found it to be much better than I first thought!
Heavily reliant on a more pervasive paranoia than even the original it was quite thought provoking - although it has to be said that the man credited as Jim Caviezel's Acting Coach must have been seriously underemployed - and did keep us watching right through to the end.
I look forward to a DVD release so that I might hear all of the dialogue clearly!
Smudge
Von Ryan's Express
One of my fave wartime yarns, good turn by Francis Albert and sterling supprt from Trevor Howard and the wonderful Edward Mulhare, really exciting finale is well worth your time

Doctor Who: The War Machines
The only fully complete Dr Who story to feature Michael Craze & the gorgeous Anneke Wills. Strange to see Hartnell in a 'fab gear' disco (he's almost mistaken for a DJ and I wonder which one, now then, now then, guys & gals).
Dated but enjoyable. Good support from William Mervyn & Alan Curtis. Kenneth Kendall reads the news (thoughtful casting, that) and sharp eyes will spot Mike Reid as one of the soldiers who trap the War Machine in Cornwall Gardens.
A couple more episodes featuring the mis-adventures of Miami based serial killer Dexter. We are into season 2 and the gorgeous Jaime Murray appears as Dexter's new 'love' interest. The FBI are hot on his trail and his sister is on the task force, oh ... and his girlfriend has dumped him. Dexter finds a new outlet for his urges in the shape of the aforementioned Ms Murray. Keith Carradine is along for the ride this time and his big screen charisma adds to the fun. This series is dark, dangerous and great fun. Highly recommended.
Two for the Seesaw with Robert Mitchum and Shirley MacLaine. Well made but overlong.
7/10.

Yes it's an absolute classic and almost a blue-print for many an Earth bound future story.
But just who would have thought that computers could possibly communicate with each other over the telephone back in 1966? Stuff and nonsense. Ha.
