There are several James Bond related threads on the boards. Why not have a look at those and see if there any you want to add to .... that often sparks off some interesting debates. Also, another good opener is to make known your views on the films and invite us to discuss them with you. Welcome to the forum.

I loved 'Goldeneye' but it was mainly because I saw it in Switzerland with my (then) Swiss au-pair girlfriend. But it's still one of my great Bonds, the other great ones are Roger Moore's 'Live & let Die' & 'The Spy Who Loved Me' as they had less 'Persuaders' comedy than the rest. And (as I've said) 'Goldeneye'

Sean Connery was just a thug! (but I did like 'Goldfinger')

George Lazenby was wrote off (by himself!) and Timothy Dalton was okay (but he only lasted two), so Pierce Brosnan is the one Bond I liker the best. The others are just watchable. And the less said about 'Never Say Never Again' the better or 'David Niven in 'Casino Royale' #2

I did like Pierce as Bond, maybe because he didn't lift an eyebrow?

Diamonds Are Forever and Casino Royale (2006) are definitely my two favourites. But I have to say I never understand the slating Tomorrow Die Another Day gets, I thought it was very good and showed Bond in a much more interesting and vulnerable light (Madonna is crap as always though and I was very pleased to find that I missed her turn completely on a quick visit to the WC when I first saw it at the cinema).

If it was possible to feel sorry for Madonna, then I would for that film: I bet she so wanted to be the romantic lead; so believed that she deserved to be the new generation Bond girl - but at 44, she could only get lesbian fencing instructor.

But it's not possible to feel sorry for her, so I don't.

I've posted this somewhere before, but I tend to find that Bond fans fall into one of two categories:

Those (like me) who think Austin Powers doesn't go far enough and love the preposterous (Megolomaniac genius villain employing small army from within secret, hollowed out iceberg and guarded by eleven foot tall four-armed henchman with crocodile's head plots to hold the world to ransom with hidden device which will instantly evaporate the oceans unless they cough up eighty trillion quid within 24 hours )

    OR

Those who prefer "gritty realism" because it "could happen"

Consequently, Rog always wins hands down for me as the best 007, with the best films (excepting the execrable For Your Eyes Only)

Pierce was great and big George was woefully underrated in one of the best outings of the entire canon.

Never been a bad Bond IMO, though Sean is the most overrated, Dalton way too serious, and Craig far too earthy and credible for my liking.

I watched Casino Royale for the first time the other day, TBH I had avoided it to date because I thought it would be rubbish (I have no idea why!) and I really enjoyed it, infact I think its one of the best Bond films yet. A great storyline, very smooth and glossy filming and acting and just the right level of Bond cheesyness.

Well, Lotte Lenya gained later years stardom at 64 in From Russia with Love as the (allegedly lesbian) KGB fencing and martial arts supervisor.

I'm trying to find a Kurt Weill sentiment to go with the sense of disappointment....

I don't understand why OHMSS has recently become judged to be one of the best Bond films. I'm sorry but it is truly truly awful (and it's not just Lazenby's completely stilted performance), but it does possibly have the best music.

Maybe Lazenby's stiltedness is actually a plus. At the time, it was like having your Action Man playing James Bond. Brilliant.

I mean, can you actually tell the real Lazenby from this ...?

Which reminds me of what I was thinking about while watching Tomorrow Never Dies last night; how come there was never a James Bond action doll, looking like a generic James Bond (physically probably most similar to Lazenby), with all the clothes available - like Action Man uniforms? I know there's a series of dolls now (JAMES BOND FIGURES & DOLLS, Calendar Toy Action Figure Poster Picture Game Standup UK Cheapest) and they look very good, but they aren't really 'action' figures, are they? How would the people who bought them feel if their nephews took them into the garden to play with?

Or was there such a toy, and I just missed it? (shuffles off muttering something about his best friend having a James Binds attache case ...)

September Song could be Bond's theme when he turns old (which will never happen in a movie).
