Default Don't talk to Strange Men (1962)

A splendid 'B' suspenser from 1962 with Janina Faye and Christina Gregg has been DVD released, very rarely if ever was it screened on Television and it is full of early sixties period charm-a telephone kiosk set in a country lane, rings-a pretty teenager answers it while waiting for her bus...

Thanks. Sounds like a good film. More of my money goes into a seller's pocket.

But it is a good investment. This one's of the type which is great for an early hours screening - like when it was last on the box...

In fact, break out RAG DOLL, BREAKING POINT or THE PAINTED SMILE and you have an excellent double-bill.

I haven't seen Rag Doll or Breaking Point but I have seen Painted Smile, that's a really good thriller. Directed, I believe, by the much under-rated Lance Comfort.

I believe Channel 5 screened it a few years ago. Nice to have these rarely seen films being released on DVD. The company who released the film is Odeon Entertainment under the best of british banner, they have also released quite a few rarely seen film titles recently. Long may they continue and release hundreds and hundreds more rarely seen films. The film also stars Conrad Phillips, another British stalwart of the B-Movie genre from the 50's and 60's. Dandy Nichols is also in the film she plays Molly the Bus Conductress

Correct about 'Molly' the conductress-the country lane and vintage bus scenes are great, as are the phone-box scenes!

RAG DOLL is ideal to double up as it's another Lance C and again stars Miss Gregg. BREAKING POINT stars the ever-wonderful Peter Reynolds. (I shall expect an e-mail when I get home tonight, shall I ? )

L C is, I believe, rated in certain quarters - just not generally. He's one of the main men in my book, opening up my world to all these great films many years ago...

Christina Gregg again! What a great forum this is! I have never seen RAG DOLL
there is something delectable about early 60's filming: the styles/close-ups/fast direction and of course unbeatable black and white!

I remember this film on television in the late sixties/early seventies?
You are right. A brilliant little film, both plausible and suspenseful. Seems to be an independent production. Yes, they should certainly dust the cobwebs off this one. Very under rated. I would welcome a chance to see it again.
I have just discovered that this film was written by Gwen Cherrell, who now 81 has had a distinguished career as an actress, last apeearing in "To The Manor Born" on TV in 1981. Apart from one other television play it seems she concentrated on her role as an actress.
Judging from "Don't Talk To Strange Men", she may well have chosen the wrong career.

Only the other night I was watching The Walking Stick from 1970, Gwen Cherrell was in that film too she played Mrs Hartley, mother to Lee Hartley as played by David Hemmings.
