On most modern VHS/DVD combo players you can change Pal to NTSC via the menu. If really stuck send me a PM for my address and I can copy to DVD (pal) for you.
Film Man.
Please can any one help. I posted a film question about the title of a film and was surprised by the quick answers I got from members on here so big thank you's to all. Now I have this film from America (Five came back) but its on the NTSC video system not PAL which I did not know about, so its not watchable. Can I get it changed or copied to PAL ? I wonder about copy right (its a 1939 film) and would like to watch it after paying £26. I know its labeled 'rare' so this is the only way I'm going to see it. I saw this film when I was around 8 in the early 50's so has memories of going to the pictures with my dad. Thank you

Have you tried watching it? Every video player ever sold in Britain should be able to play an NTSC tape. It's the same physical format - VHS. It's just got a different number of lines on the screen. Some older video players sold in Britain used to play NTSC tapes in B&W when they were meant to be in colour (or "color") but they still played them.
Steve
Yes it will of course play Steve...but depending on your television and player what you get on the screen can be anything from a scrambled picture with intermittent sound to half a screen image with no sound! I'm sure film fun would have tried the tape before calling on us....Film fun wants a playable full screen copy that they can watch...that's what I'm offereing to do.

Thank you both for answering my question. So it means I will be able to enjoy this film after all. many thanks.
Yes, as Film man says I did try it but no matter what I did with the controls it was still unwatchable with the screen 'pulsing' and the speech was slow and drawn with lines all over the place. Think I have it sorted now with film man. Thanks both
