The ones that feel closest to my experience are
GREGORY'S GIRL (Forsyth)
DEATHWATCH (Tavernier)
But there's something authentic about THE WICKER MAN, there's no denying.

And my favourites are I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING, THE MAGGIE, THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, THE BODY SNATCHER.

Ratcatcher was a brilliant film! And the Michael Caine version of "Kidnapped" makes me homesick!....much of it was filmed in Stirling, I would recommend a visit there if anyone manages up north, take your thermals though!...

The Prime of miss Jean Brodie great one.

Live each day to the full because one day it will be your last.

and there was also harry lauder's "roamin' in the gloamin' " but i believe that one has been lost (if it's anything like his songs that's probably a good thing).

Aye, probably a good thing, Lauder was considered a "stage" Scotsman presenting shortbread tin illustration type cliches of Scotland, a bit like his modern counterpart Andy Stewart!....now Rab C Nesbitt, there is a more accurate depiction of a typical Scotsman!....

I like the Disney version too with Peter Finch, lots of location filming in Glen Coe, unusual for a Disney film to leave California!..

That's good too, mind you, most things with Mr Finch in are worth a look.
