I wasn't there, Rob, but here is the blurb from the BFI Guide for April 2012:
I understand that "Just William's Luck" (1947) was shown at the BFI recently - wish I'd known as I would have been there!
I have now signed up for their forthcoming programme emails, so that hopefully won't happen again.
Was any Britmovie member there? Trying to look "in the past" on the BFI web site for more information, programme notes etc is a waste of time as it doesn't seem possible - even google links come up as "access denied" as though they are trying to hush up the fact it was ever there!
Can any kind Britmovie member help with a cut and paste or something? I'm looking for any info about the film, the screening etc.
many thanks
Rob

I do love the books but surely this is the only film version worth the price of admission?![]()
But when you're a fan (I'm a fully paid up member of the Just William Society, see http://www.justwilliam.co.uk/page-society1st.htm ) then all is worth it.
The books are just wonderful, and can be read at many levels, as Richmal Crompton was also writing the stories for adults as well as children.

They are indeed superb and definitely repay adult reading. Have you read any of her adult novels? I've only read Family Roundabout which I thought was excellent.
