I've been enjoying it tremendously! All based on real cases and characters, well-researched and depicted, very atmospheric.

Default Titanic

The film might be Anglo-American (subject matter?) but I watched the 1953 film Titanic with Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwick and Robert Wagner and can not fault it for script acting and
pathos. A real tear jerker at the end. A great film

Default Dead of Night

Hi all,

New member from the US but grew up loving UK movies!

Planning to watch 'Dead of Night', which I haven't seen since I was a kid, and finally managed to get a copy on DVD!

It will be interesting to see if it still has the same power 30 years later...

Let us know your thoughts, but I can guess, it is still powerful and disturbing, brilliant film

Will watch Amanda Holden in Wild at Heart. Harmless, fluff(the programme not Amanda) Tomkinson is a very good actor so am surprised that he is in this, surely he should be into some more meaty roles. Also our Hayley is in this.

I will be watching "Jeeves& Wooster" on one of the digi channels. I didn't like Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie's version the first time around (I loved Dennis Price and Ian Carmichael ) but I'm really enjoying it now. I love the period and it evokes this very well "Don't You Know!"

Like Maralyn, I am thoroughly enjoying the Fry/Laurie version of Jeeves and Wooster and what I greatly enjoy about watching this series is the "art deco" animation and music that starts and ends each episode. It fits in very nicely with the 20/30s theme of the stories.

If you like the era you might also try Mapp & Lucia with Geraldine McEwan, Prunella Scales & Nigel Hawthorne. They also have a good "art deco" title sequence but it's also a superbly performed series

Tonight it is The Farmer's Wife 1928 a silent Hitchcock movie I have been dying to see. I am a big silent movie fan, and the only other British silent film I have seen is Piccadilly, which was wonderful.
