Dexter

The American tv series featuring a forensic scientist who is also a serial killer, a different take on the usual homicide. Although we now know who the ice killer is it is still a very good watch and leaves me wondering how it's going to end.(in a couple of weeks time)

Hopefully there will be a proper ending, a number of American tv series such as Lost and Heroes has left me with the impression that they manipulated the scripts so that if the viewing figures were good then the run would be extended.

Regards

Freddy

It ends pretty well (I saw it on a Satellite channel last year), but they do have a decent source novel to work from.

Don't all drama series do that? For example Blake's 7 and Upstairs Downstairs were both meant to end much earlier in their runs and Doctor Who was only originally commissioned for c20 episodes!

Sometimes it goes the other way ... both the Planet of the Apes and Custer series were ended mid-run due to poor viewing figures.

True - I don't think many producers will either continue an unsuccessful show or end a successful one for artistic reasons (though yes, we can all think of exceptions!)

There have been a few very famous ones where this has happened but in general it's down to viewing figures.

Lots of stars in the making to watch out for there. The best, IMO, are the first half of the season because you get Roger Delgado as the dastardly Spanish ambassador.

Night Watch directed by Brian G. Hutton (of Where Eagles Dare fame) and starring Laurence Harvey and Liz Taylor. I haven't seen this since it was on at the cinema but I remember it as being a good old fashioned 'is she mad or isn't she?' melodrama.
