Tonight I will be mostly watching Brick Lane.

Hang on a minute, lads.
I've got a great idea.

An Odeon 'double feature' which in arrived in the post today, both scripted by Captain Waggett's favourite ... John Gilling!

Max in Blackout (reviewed elsewhere on this site) and Dermot Walsh in Bond of Fear.

I will follow that supporting programme with the excellent They Made Me A Fugitive, another new one from Odeon with Trevor Howard and the lovely Sally Gray.

Is that the Sally Gray who was Stanley Lupino's muse?

More in line with the theme of the Mary Whitehouse programme is:
Auntie's War on Smut on BBC4, tonight, 23:00 to 00:00

Tongue-in-cheek journey through 20 years of censorship from the BBC after it issued a book of guidelines that would define its role and values for postwar Britain in 1948. Known by the colour of its cover, the 'Green Book' would keep a generation of errant writers and performers in check with bans on jokes about honeymoon couples, fig leaves and animal habits among others. Featuring contributions from writers and performers like Denis Norden, Nicholas Parsons, David Frost and Jonathan Miller.

That documentary is certainly excellent value for your licence fee - BBC4 must have found have a dozen excuses to show it in the last year! Not that I'm complaining - it's good stuff.

I appear to be in a minority who will not be watching any Whitehouse related programmes tonight ..... I shall be watching the efforts of those less fortunate (England v USA) followed by 12 Day of Terror, the film version of Richard Fernicola's excellent book 'Close to Shore', with John Rhys Davies.

The opening four episodes of Ghost Squad.
Somewhat hit n miss thus far, the Bill Kerr guest star episode was engaging and the story with Alfred Burke as an assasin was probably best of those. Interesting that the cameraman was Nic Roeg.

A toss up between They Made A Fugitive or The Conclave. Either way, it will be preceded by some episodes of The Masked Marvel.

Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace - always been curious about despite its flaws. Not looking forward to dubbed voices

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

Once you get used to the voices it's a pretty decent Krimi. There are definitely worse Holmes films out there and the jazz soundtrack is great!

Doctor Who with a new two part story by Steven Moffat

He's the one who has written most of the iconic episodes so far like:
The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances - "Are you my Mummy?"
The Girl in the Fireplace - Madame De Pompadour!
Blink - playing "Grandmother's footsteps" with statues

Of course Steven also wrote Coupling, Jekyll, Press Gang and many other great shows and he's due to take over production of Doctor Who next year.

Good luck to him, he deserves his success!
